New iMacs reportedly coming by the end of September

Apple is reportedly readying new models of its iMac desktops. The machines are said to maintain their current design, while updating the internal components, though what exactly those upgrades entail is unknown.
The latest report on new iMacs, from Ming-Chi Kuo for KGI Securities, indicates that Apple will use new materials to improve the color saturation of the iMac. The company is also apparently hoping to launch the new iMacs in the current quarter.

We believe Apple will introduce new iMac models in 3Q15, which are expected to have key selling points such as more powerful processors and much better display quality. We predict the panel will use a LED phosphor material called KSF to notably boost color saturation.

Interestingly, it is currently the second month of 3Q15 (or as Apple calls it, Q4 2015), meaning that if Apple wants to release new iMacs this quarter, they'll be doing that by the end of September. It's unknown at this time whether this launch timeframe would mean that the new iMacs would continue to use Intel's Broadwell processors, or if they would perhaps be some of the first devices to pack the company's upcoming Skylake chips.
It should be noted that in the past few years, Apple has often debuted new Macs in October, though they have refreshed some models throughout the year.

Apple reportedly teaching Siri how to transcribe your voi...

Posted By x-bot in iDevice News
Apple is reportedly working to have Siri transcribe your voicemails and forward them to your iPhone as an SMS. According to Business Insider, this new feature is set to launch in 2016, and will essentially enable you to take your voicemail messages with you in text form.
It's not unusual for voicemails to rack up messages as people simply don't get round to hearing what others have to say. That and spam or unwanted contact. With Siri able to transcribe your voicemails and having Apple Cloud send them to your iPhone as an SMS, you'd be able to quickly check and delete as you go.
As Business Insider reports:

"Here is how it works: When someone using iCloud Voicemail is unable to take a call, Siri will answer instead of letting the call go to a standard digital audio recorder. iCloud Voicemail can relay information about where you are and why you can't pick up the phone to certain people. But the coolest feature of the service is that Siri will transcribe any incoming voicemails, just like it does with anything else you say to it."

It's believed voicemails will be transcribed on Apple's end, with your iPhone having to do little but receive said messages. It could prove a useful tool, especially for those who don't have time to sit through their voicemails but would like to know who contacted them and why.
Voicemails aside, Siri is also set to become more intelligent in iOS 9. It seems a plausible advancement for the company and its virtual assistant once the upcoming iOS release is out the doors.

Whether you just bought your iPhone 5s, or have had your iPhone 5 since launch, keeping it in the best condition possible means keeping it in the best case possible. So, whether you're looking for something extra tough, slim and stylish, a flip cover, a wallet, or something in between, here's are some of my current favorites!</p> <p><!--break--> </p> <h2>LifeProof FRE</h2> <div class="video"><div class="video_iframe"><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TmEEYiYSxM0?rel=0&amp;autoplay=0&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;controls=2&amp;autohide=1&amp;showinfo=0" width="627" height="353" class="video-filter video-youtube vf-tmeeyiysxm0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></div></div> <!--/video--> <div class="buy-widget"> <p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/LifeProof-iPhone-5s-Case-Black/dp/B00JOB1IES/?tag=imoreb-20&amp;m1k=d_im" title="" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://www.imore.com/sites/imore.com/files/field/image/2015/07/lifeproof-fre-5s.jpg" /></a></p> <p><a href="http://www.amazon.com/LifeProof-iPhone-5s-Case-Black/dp/B00JOB1IES/?tag=imoreb-20&amp;m1k=d_im" title="" rel="nofollow">$80 <em>Buy now</em></a></p> </div> <p>The LifeProof FRE case is well-known for being able to take a beating. Namely, it offers the iPhone 5s complete water protection. Dedicated gaskets cover all of the important inputs, while still providing access when you need it. With the LifeProof FRE covering it, your iPhone 5s can take a drop of up to 2 meters, which is plenty for day-to-day bumps, not to mention more adventurous scenarios. A raised bezel offers some scratch protection to the front screen when face down, but by and large, this case's main selling point is its slim, minimal profile. Nokia sells HERE to German carmakers for $3 billion

Nokia has announced that it has sold its mapping business HERE to German car consortium comprising of Audi, BMW and Daimler for 2.8 billion Euro ($3 billion). The Finnish company was looking to sell HERE to focus on the integration of Alcatel-Lucent, which it acquired for $16.6 billion earlier this year.

HERE's high-definition real-time digital mapping technology gives the aforementioned car makers the ability to further their research on self-driving cars, and integrate connected services into their nect-generation vehicles. The deal is estimated to close in the first half of 2016, with Nokia netting 2.5 billion Euro ($2.74 billion) from the proceeds.

Following the announcement, the HERE team mentioned that the sale will not affect HERE's mobile apps, available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone, stating that the presence of mobile navigation services allows car manufacturers to "extend their product and service offerings beyond the car."

With the sale of HERE, Nokia will function as two business entities: Nokia Networks, which provides network and telecom infrastructure, and Nokia Technologies, which will continue to develop technology products such as the recently announced virtual reality camera OZO.

Parrot ditches plans for consumer-centric Apple CarPlay h...

Posted By x-bot in iDevice News

At CES 2015, Parrot unveiled the RNB6, an in-dash car infotainment system with support for both Apple CarPlay and Google's Android Auto. During the launch, Parrot said that the RNB6 will be available to customers as an aftermarket upgrade, but it now looks like that option is no longer available as the vendor has announced that it will sell the infotainment system directly to car makers:

This infotainment system was selected by several automakers who envision to integrate it in their next-generation car models next year and beyond. As of today there is no plan to sell RNB6 in Aftermarket channels as RNB6 embedded technologies require deep integration with car series and manufacturers.

Parrot hasn't mentioned which manufacturers it is collaborating with, or if another model offering a similar feature-set will be made available to consumers at a later date. We'll share more details as we receive them.

Apple Watch and HealthKit have changed Jim Dalrymple'...

I only get to see Jim in person every couple of months or so, but the transformation from a year ago to now is nothing short of amazing. Today was a major milestone for him. The Loop:

When I first wrote my review of Apple Watch and follow-up in June, I had lost 40 pounds. I noted that I still had a little way to go to reach a goal I had set about 11 months ago—today, I made it.

Both Jim and Peter Cohen's newer, healthier forms were the talk of WWDC back in June, and it's not only great to see they're still making so much progress, it's inspiring.

Also, this:

@danielpunkass Christ, I can't believe we're living in a world where we're looking to @jdalrymple for inspiration for living healthy.
