Per the subject, this is NOT about transferring photo from the iPhone.

I would like to select individuals photos from my computer (spread over different folder) and copy it to my iPhone. Short of using SSH to copy the files to the iPhone, is there any other "elegant" way of doing this?

Not that I do NOT WANT to SYNC the photos using iTunes.

Put them online somewhere and then browse to them in Safari, hold over one and select to save the image. Vwallah, it's in your camera roll.

Other than that, SSH or iTunes are the only ways I'm aware of.

You need to have them somewhere online and save them onto your phone.
If you SSH them into your phone, you will be able to store them on your phone, but they will not be viewable on your phone.

Having them online is your best option.

Thanks.

itunes is the best way of doing this, I use it also to keep my portfolio on my phone with this way. u can even create different folders for different picz.. there is one downside of this way that itunes resizes them when syncing so u can't have pics as large as ur cam roll photos.

Hmm, I tried this before. I uploaded my pictures from Picasa on my Mac to Google Photos. Then I open the photo from Safari and hold over one... and nothing.

The only thing that pop up is "Copy", not "save image" or something like that.

There is 2 ways of doing this... make a folder what all the pictures that you want on your phone into one folder and sync them via iTunes.

OR

SSH into your iPhone: private/var/mobile/media/DCIM or Photos
That's it :)

Is this viewable? Tried it but cant see them or maybe this is due to permission issue. Anybody?

Just a quick one: WHICH FOLDER is it for the "synced" photo album?

After I setup a "Photo Sync" from iTunes, there are now TWO rolls in the iPhone:

1) Camera Roll
2) Photo LIbrary

For Camera Roll, I know the directory is /var/mobile/media/DCIM/100APPLE.

For Photo Library roll, I couldn't find it. Anybody knows?

its not a folder you can access, the photos are stored as a single file.

Which you cannot access because it's on iTunes. I have tried looking for it myself... but no luck. The only file there is is Photo Database... which won't allow you to do anything.

The way they did the Camera Roll is different now. If you have firmware 3.0+, you can SSH it back to your phone and you will see the thumbnail.

People, please read the question when trying to answer! He is trying to put a single photo into the camera roll, not to have fifty different photos in twenty folders!
